As a working mom, it is so hard but so needed to find time to connect with your friends and remember who you are as a person, not only a mom. It’s also hard to know what to pack for a beach vacation that doesn’t involve beach toys and kids snacks.
We are getting ready to take off on a much needed trip to celebrate several moms turning 40 this year, and these are just some of products we are taking.
What to pack for a beach vacation
A sand-proof bag
Why we like it: Ok, so a Bogg bag may scream mom, but honestly there is a reason we pack them for a beach vacation. They are easy to pack, easy to carry, and easy to clean. And there is plenty of room for an adult beverage, some magazines, a towel, and the myriad of sun care products I need for my aging (but not old) skin.
A stainless steel tumbler
Why we like it: Again, moms love their stainless steel tumblers. We pack it for a beach vacation because it keeps hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold. And it is more durable than plastic.
We love the colors this one comes in, and the flip top means no worries about leaking if it tips over in the beach bag.
A beachy dress (with pockets!)
Why we like it: A comfy beach vacation dress in a tropical pattern. Pretty much sums it up.
A portable Bluetooth waterproof speaker
Why we like it: How else are you gonna listen to nostalgic tunes? Pump up the Ja Rule, Snoop, Nelly, and fine- NSYNC. Plus it is waterproof for the beach, pool, bathtub, or public park water fountain a la Friends.
A mom-friendly sunscreen
Why we like it: Far and away our favorite sunscreen. It doesn’t feel like sunscreen, and it doesn’t smell like sunscreen. And it protects your skin and can act as a make up primer. The first sunscreen I actually like to put on!
A fashionable UPF sun hat
Why we like it: I have this hat and it is great for packing. I roll it or flatten it in my luggage, then take it out and no crinkles, no weird lines from folding. Fantastic for vacations where you have to fly.
A sun-friendly reading tablet
Why we like it: You are on a beach trip with your friends and no kids. There is no one to chase with sunscreen. No crying about salt water in someone’s eyes. You don’t have to take someone to the bathroom just as soon as you sit down and settle in. RELAX. Read a new book. This Kindle is awesome for reading in the sun, and it is light weight. I love to read it before bedtime too as the light is adjusted and doesn’t strain my eyes like my phone or tablet.
What about you? How often do you take a girls’ trip? If you could have a day at the beach by yourself, what would you do?
